		<description><![CDATA[You also have to remember that many Scandinavians came for the opportunities offered.  Under the alodial system that was in place throughout Scandinavia, most were reduced to tenant farming and/or sailing as land was allotted by order of birth and was constantly being conglomerated through marriage and inheritance law provisions.  Scandinavian countries lost masses of people as emigrants to other countries due to its land laws, that were not substantially changed until the past century.
