One meaningless metaphor that I often hear is "Utah Mormon", though it is probably not meaningless simply by virtue of having lost its reference to the sands of time. It just seems to me that the term "Utah Mormon" is a slightly (or greatly, depending on who is saying it and to whom) derogatory metaphor referencing whatever attributes the speaker finds funny and/or wrong with the LDS people in general. Or does "Utah Mormon" actually have its genesis in some sort of real, objective comparison?
